Learn practical tips about the home-buying process from real estate and mortgage professionals, and try some great craft beers, too! (Brewery TBD)

When: July 16, 2017, 2 pm – 4 pm

Where: Coldwell Banker Preferred, Old City – 223-225 Market Street

Cost: $10 donation to West Philly Tool Library, payable in advance (this gets you the seminar, information packet, & a tasting glass–we put the beer in it for free!)

What can I expect to learn?
We will have a real estate agent and a mortgage adviser on hand to give you the ins and outs of buying a home. You’ll learn how to have your finances in order before you purchase, what happens after you make an offer on a house and much more. This will be interactive, as well, so once the liquid courage kicks in, feel free to ask all the questions you want ;-).
Do I need to be actively looking for a home right now?
Nope. We’re going to bombard you with great beer, not “hard sell” techniques. It’s smart to find out what goes into buying a house–even if you never pull the trigger yourself, it’s great to be able to correct that know-it-all friend who’s somehow an expert on every topic you try to talk about.
What if I’ve already bought a home?
That’s cool, too. More information never hurt anyone (see above), and keep an eye out for our future seminar on a selling a home, too.
Why are you featuring beers from Hopshire Farm & Brewery?
Because we like beer, and so do you. Because we visited the Finger Lakes last Fall and the folks at Hopshire charmed our socks off. Because learning is always more fun when there’s booze involved.
Why is our donation benefiting the West Philly Tool Library?
Because in addition to beer, we also love DIY projects (just check out the wood wall feature we made) and taking care of as many home repairs as we can without hiring someone to do the job for us. The WPTL is a lending library of tools (and not just the basics, like, the really good stuff, too–I’m talking cement mixers, tile saws, and everything else that would cost you a fortune to rent at a big box store). Their mission is to make the ongoing costs of owning a home affordable for everyone, and in our opinion, that’s just dandy.
When we’re done, can we talk about the second-class treatment Barb got on “Stranger Things?”
Yes! Poor Barb! #neverforget
